Do you wonder who the breeder of your dog is? Are they a good breeder? What is the criteria for a breeder to be a “good breeder”? This was the foundation for the development of the American Canine Association’s “Star Breeder Program”. It is a way for you to easily see how dedicated the breeder is to reaching the highest standards.
The American Canine Association (ACA) developed an innovative awards program to professional breeders who want to communicate their high quality levels of care; veterinary oversight; daily exercise and socialization of the parents and puppies they raise; genetic health screening; dog show winnings; ongoing educational hours obtained annually.
When buying a puppy, it is very important to research the breeder. What level of dedication do they have? Are the mother and father of your puppy healthy? Is the breeder dedicated to breeding and raising the finest dogs? If the breeder has received an award for “Achievement in Excellence – Star Breeder Award” then you know they have achieved levels higher than 98% of the breeders in North America.
Participation in this program is free and completely voluntary for breeders. If you are buying a puppy and the breeder is not a star breeder, then you should ask them why they are not!
